Regulations Mistakenly Hogtie Trichloroethylene

 

 

Trichloroethylene (TCE) has taken a bad rap as of late. But, is it justified knowing all the other hazardous chemicals used much more often? In the writer’s immediate area--1 mile from a CTS electroplating site—which was shut down in 1986 (23 years ago). It has been labeled a Superfund RCRA Site due to trichloroethylene groundwater contamination. Maybe our houses should be labeled Superfund Sites as well.

 

Most chemical sites receive the Superfund label if they have disposed of hazardous chemicals improperly. Those chemicals are also flammable, toxic, or corrosive. But if one takes a normal hairspray that usually contains dimethyl ether (DME) as a propellant, one must think about the typical breathing amounts inhaled.

 

A typical dose of DME usually exceeds breathing at least 500 parts per million (ppm) for the person applying the hairspray—that’s 0.05 volume % for a short period of time. The Material Safety Data Sheet reveals that for a mouse, the lethal concentration for a 15 minute interval with DME is 386ppm. We also know the flash point of DME to be minus 41oC—the temperature at which it will ignite by having a small flame available. We just have to remember never to hairspray for longer than 15 minutes, or to have a small flame in the room.

 

Other typically used items around the house include gasoline, butane, paint thinner, other aerosols, antifreeze, pesticides, wood preservatives, mercury (lights, paint), spot remover, cyanide compounds (rat fumigants), ant traps, old fire extinguishers, pool chemicals, oven cleaners, battery acid…you name it. All either are flammable, toxic, corrosive, or a combination thereof. But there has yet a household to be labeled a Superfund Site.

 

Because TCE is listed on its MSDS as ‘reasonably anticipated to be a possible human carcinogen’, millions worried about carcinogenicity, and cancer flags were immediately raised. People living nearby the CTS site became scared for their lives. At a neighborhood meeting at the local fire station on 1/31/08, one fellow even claimed that TCE was responsible for 8 cancer occurrences in his family who lived within a mile of the CTS site.

 

Because TCE is relatively pervasive in the environment, many people are likely to become exposed by simply breathing, eating, and drinking. Inhalation is the main route of potential exposure, so various people were checked for TCE background levels. But no one tested showed any increase or accumulation of TCE.

 

EPA’s Contract Laboratory Program Statistical Database reports that TCE supposedly occurs in 3% of surface water samples at an average level of 40.2 ppb, and in 19% of groundwater samples at a concentration of 27.3 ppb. Both are much higher than the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL).

 

Locally, with the existing CTS electroplating site, the EPA sampled 66 wells within 1 mile of the CTS site. Only one well exceeded the MCL in that area. The MCL for TCE has been set at 5ppb in 1985, so it was made 2,000 times higher. The media always reports the new MCL, so a few analyses show up as wildly high.

 

The carcinogenicity of TCE was first evaluated in laboratory animals in 1970. TCE actually but had been used in inhalers 40 years ago as a gas anesthetic with favorable analgesic properties (1% vapor/ 10,000 ppm). Because of these properties, Trilene (TCE) inhalers were frequently used, especially by those about to give birth.

 

Millions of people have breathed high concentrations of TCE. So far, no human is known to have gotten cancer from TCE. One recent review of the epidemiology of kidney cancer rated cigarette smoking and obesity as more important risk factors for kidney cancer than exposure to solvents such as trichloroethylene.

 

It seems in the MSDS stating “reasonably anticipated to be a possible human carcinogen”, anticipated could be defined as “expected, but never happened”, and possible could mean “in all the millions of cases of high exposure, we haven’t seen anything yet”.

 

Several things we should all remember: 1) the concentration of ppm is 1000x more concentrated than ppb, and 2) drinking 10 liters of water over a course of a few minutes has resulted in death.

 

Other than that, just don’t have your wife spray her hair in a closed room, or while smoking a lit cigarette. TCE is probably dangerous in some way. We know it’s not flammable, radioactive, carcinogenic, toxic, or corrosive. It probably could be listed as #1862 on the ‘most dangerous chemical list’. But where would water be on that list?

 

Yet someone had the wherewithal to put it on a Superfund Site list and have the government (a.k.a., taxpayer) pay over $15 million to clean up a plant that really poses no risk.

 

Go figure…

Carbon Dioxide Tuns Out to Be a Savior

                    

 

Thought to be the demonic cause of anthropogenic global warming, CO2 has literally been taking all the heat lately. With CO2 concentrations pushing the 400 ppm range as of late, manmade global warmers believe they have the perfect scapegoat for dreaded global warming. If they’re wrong, then the earth won’t fry, there won’t be incredulous risings of the sea and torrential floods, and life on earth will not come to a screeching halt.

 

Christopher Monckton (Brenchley) has written "Climate Sensitivity Reconsidered", which explains CO2 concentrations over the last 6 million years. As a member of the IPCC and APS (American Physical Society), Monckton puts CO2 concentration and temperature on the same scale which few have been able to do. The chart can be found as Figure #7 three quarters into his article, called Fluctuating CO2 But Stable Temperature for 600m Years.

 

In Correlation Falsification: The Missing Global Warming - CO2 Link ...Noel Sheppard illustrates how CO2 is ~380 ppm (parts per million) now, and how it has never affected temperatures in the recent Past.

 

Monckton illuminates how CO2 has fallen and risen many times in the past. From ice core samples, it was determined the Late Ordovician Period of the Paleozoic Era was also an Ice Age, while at the same time CO2 concentrations then were nearly 12 times higher (4400 ppm) than today. The Ordovician Period was the 6th of seven periods in the Paleozoic Era. The 7th period was the Cambrian

 

Even in the Cambrian Period of the Paleozoic Era, CO2 was found to be ~7000 ppm (18x higher than today). No anthropogenic global warming was reported. And global warming that did take place went the way of natural sun perturbations, without any human interference. There has been some global warming on several of the planets that have been measurable, but no CO2 producers were caught emitting CO2.

 

But as CO2 levels have increased in very recent times, so has agricultural productivity and yield. In fact, the world now produces more food on less land than ever before. This can be seen directly from graphs on the USDA Economic Research Service [The 20th Century Transformation of U.S. Agriculture and Farm Policy].

With CO2, chlorophyll, and sunlight all plants and crops create photosynthesis, or make “plant food”. Quite simply, the more CO2 that exists, the easier the photosynthesis reaction can take place, and the more crops and vegetation grows and produces.

 

Climate Depot [Rising CO2 a Boon for Biosphere – Earth in 'CO2 Famine' – Cutting ... explains just how CO2 is the best thing the earth could’ve hoped for. Fittingly wheat growers, [U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works :: Minority Page] have decided to reverse course on their cap-and-trade support, mainly because of the beneficial affects of CO2.

 

In fact, it has been determined in Climate myths: Ice cores show CO2 increases lag behind temperature ... , the total falsehood of claiming temperatures are the result of increasing CO2 concentration. His facts have been proven many times concerning the CO2 increases that existed, which always followed a high temperature. It sometimes lagged temperature by as much as 800 years. But the temperature increase never follows a CO2 increase.

 

Joe D’Aleo of ICECAP explains how the CO2 has been totally uncorrelated with temperature over the last decade. This is true when the oceans likely play a key role emitting CO2 when they warm as carbonated beverages lose carbonation when they warm, but absorb it when they cool.

 

It need not be discussed how solar activity always changes in 11 year cycles, or how UV radiation increases much more than brightness which causes increased ozone which directly affects climate, or how sunspots affect cosmic ray production which directly affects cloud formation which directly affects climate.

 

It also should not be discussed how the sun is a variable star by 0.5%, that goes through cycles sometimes more than 100 years, that the oceans go through multidecadal cycles every 60-70 years which directly affect natural variations in Arctic and Antarctic ice cover, hurricanes, and thus overall weather.

 

It seems like the Intelligent Designer had all those affects in mind when He made CO2 necessary for plant life, which is necessary for animal life, which is necessary for human life. What an intricate biosystem. And some believe this happened by chance?

New Definition of Terrorism Means More Deaths

                    

 

First, they closed Abu Ghraib (Iraq) in 8/06. Then they decided to “Mirandize” any terrorist prisoners. Then they decided that because of the Abu Ghraib and like scandals, many of the terrorist prisoners should be released. Then they decided that every terrorist prisoner should be afforded all those rights that American citizens now get if they’re apprehended.

 

Some believe we most likely will never have any terrorist problems again…

 

According to the AP in http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_prosecuting_terror, the % of terrorism cases that federal prosecutors have declined to pursue has recently grown from 31 to 73%. Many terrorists go free because the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) claims they don’t have enough evidence to convict, and we are violating their civil rights. They seem to forget it was these terrorists responsible for the 3000 deaths on 9/11.

 

AP reports that almost 6000 of almost 8900 terrorism cases between 2004 and 2008 were closed with no action. According to the data, the cases brought by investigators were often based on weak or insufficient admissible evidence, lacked criminal intent, or did not constitute a criminal offense.

 

What is considered admissible in a foreign country? How does one know if a terrorist is simply constructing a bomb, or something else? What if a suspected terrorist simply has blood on his sword, but is not caught in any act of slaughter?

 

Firsthand information from troops in Baghdad revealed during the worst fighting by terrorists right after the fall of Hussein, troops were asked to risk their lives—again. They were forced to bus suspected terrorists out of Abu Ghraib, and let them out free on the populace.

 

So many forget when Bush stated that after 9/11, that if you weren’t against all terrorist activities, you were with them. Terrorist activities such as physical torture, hacking someone to death with swords, forcing a detainee to utter false words on television then slitting his neck, and actively pursuing the attainment of weapons of mass destruction for multiple kills, did not seem to occur at Abu Ghraib.

 

Sure, atrocities such as physical embarrassment occurred at some prisons for terrorists, and that should be halted. But terrorists are NOT American citizens. They do NOT have American rights. They will kill to achieve their objectives. They do NOT have “Miranda” rights. If they’re involved with terrorists in any way, they likely are terrorists.

 

It can be deduced that at least 50% of the terrorists that have been loosed on the general populace will be out there again—killing when it suits their purpose. That means many American troops, as well as Iraqis, have already died due to votes for Democrats--in power, and dictating all legislation. They control how many terrorists are circulating in the population, and yes, how many more American soldiers will die because of incredibly poor decisions by the current administration.

 

The author honors all those soldiers who have died and been injured by terrorist actions in Iraq and Afghanistan. America has seen no further terrorist-committed deaths on American soil since 9/11, and the blood of those American soldiers will always be remembered.

 

Terrorists know there are really no rules for terrorists, as long as they get what they want. Some citizens wanted change this last election. Well they got it. For some of them, their child, wife, or husband won’t be coming home for dinner anymore…

Kennedy Had Been Excommunicated Years Ago

 

 

The Catholic sitting next to you in Church could be a phony. If they proceed to receive communion they may be calling sacrilege and eternal damnation on their soul. One should know no one is capable of judging what someone’s eternal life may be. But with Senator Kennedy and his full Catholic funeral upon his recent death, one has to wonder.

 

Kennedy’s urgent push to pass legislation for abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, and same sex-marriage demonstrated his utter contempt for four of five “non-negotiables”. Those are, in Catholic doctrine and teaching, intrinsic evils in every case. There are no exceptions.

 

On his 5/9/07 flight to Brazil, the Pope was talking directly about “latae sententiae” (“automatic excommunication”). A reporter broke the ice by asking him if he supported the excommunication of Mexican legislators who had voted to legalize abortion. The Pope replied, “Yes, this excommunication was not something arbitrary, but is foreseen by Canon Law [CL 915]” He was emphatic, and continued to insist that such actions involved excommunication.

 

Benedict made “automatic excommunication” crystal clear. This occurs without formal declaration if there is an obstinate persistence in manifest grave sin. Abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, and same-sex marriage are four of those intrinsically evil deeds classified as grave. The excommunication is self inflicted.

Word from the Vatican in 2004, was “All pro-choice Catholic politicians who publicly call themselves Catholic yet who blatantly violate Canon Law by continuing to profess heresy, and receive Holy Communion, must publicly reject their abortion advocacy for the sake of their own souls, and the others they have scandalized. If not, then these people will have been excommunicated.”

Human Life International president Father Thomas Euteneuer said “Every indication of Senator Kennedy’s career, every public appearance, every sound bite showed an acerbic, devisive and partisan political hack for whom party politics were much more infallible than Church doctrines. He stated it was up to God to judge his soul, but we must judge his actions that did not agree with Catholic teaching.

Excommunication is the removal of someone in an organization. In this case, it’s an entire religion. Any organization, including any religion, has rules to live by. Would any organization continue to keep you as a member if you continually acted against their most precious values? Can an avowed racist against Blacks be a member of the NAACP? 

Shockingly, this errantly claiming of being a Catholic in good standing may have been the tip of the iceberg.

 

Doug Patton, whose column in GOPUSA [Let Us Not Confuse Longevity With Statesmanship], brings back one of Kennedy’s most disreputable moments. What many consider treasonous occurred during the Cold War in 1983.

 

Kennedy sent word to Premier Yuri Andropov offering his help in undermining the Reagan Administration in its dealings with the USSR, in exchange for Andropov’s help in defeating Reagan in the 1984 presidential election. But we all have a short memory and few remember that.

 

What does one think of a US senator offering to help our sworn enemy in exchange for propaganda to win an election? Of course, a true Catholic would likely not stoop to such a move much less favor any intrinsic evil.

 

One has to wonder how any previous heinous acts can be considered Catholic just because a supposed “Catholic” performed the evil. How could Notre Dame invite and honor someone who is so pro-abortion? Atrocities associated with the Inquisitions, the Crusades, priestly pedophilia, and errant “Catholic” politicians have plagued Catholics for years. 

 

This violence was committed by someone who called themselves Catholic. Does that mean a purported Methodist who is involved with killing someone, condemns the whole Methodist religion as murderers?

 

As Father Euteneuer states, we need to pray for the salvation of heretical Catholics like Kennedy. But we don’t have to praise him, let alone eulogize him with the full honors and reverence of a civic Catholic funeral. He needed to be sent to the afterlife with a private funeral and prayers for his immortal soul.

 

What Kennedy’s outcome for the thousands of unborn baby’s deaths he was responsible for will be unknown until our death. We are told that Kennedy was able to confess his sins to a priest before he died. If he asked forgiveness for all those deaths, and expressed feelings of remorse and wanting to make things right before he died, his soul is likely saved.

 

Unfortunately, nobody got that impression about his last wish…

Your Sexual Exposure

 

Most of us have had sex with more than one person, right? But let’s get down to the nitty-gritty, and determine our risk of getting an STD. That is, if we don’t already have one. Actually, there are only eight common STDs. But it can be calculated what one’s chances are with the number of partners one might have. Crazy as it sounds; the Heritage House actually calculated with 16 sexual partners, one could have 65,535 possible exposures to any one of at least eight STDs. Insanity, right?

It turns out in this calculation one had to make a few assumptions, the main one being each of your partners only had as many partners as you have. That sounds reasonable. The calculation was limited to only 16 partners in your lifetime. Sexually Transmitted Diseases - Information from CDC

The sexual exposure chart actually listed 15 exposures to STDs with 4 partners, 255 exposures with 8 partners, and 65,535 exposures with 16. They had used an accurate equation resulting in the number of exposures one would have, depending on the number of sexual partners. That equation was E = 2{to the “n” power} - 1, where “n” equals your number of your sexual partners, and “E” equals your number of exposures. The actual documentation is here.

Knowing the number of partners you’ve had, gives your exact number of exposures. Per C. Everett Koop, M.D. (former Surgeon General), “When you have sex with someone, you are having sex with everyone they have had sex with for the last 10 years, and everyone they and their partners have had sex with for the last 10 years.”

The most common STDs referred to are: 1) chlamydia, 2) gon----hea, 3) syphilis, 4) HIV/AIDS, 5) genital herpes, 6) HPV, 7) trichomoniasis, and 8) PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease).

But if you read information on the CDC [CDC: 1 in 4 teenage girls have an STD] website closely, you learn with #1 (trichomoniasis), there are almost 2.8 million new cases annually, and by age 30, 50% of sexually active women have it.

With gonnorhea, 80% are not aware in the early stages that they are infected. With #3, 50% are not aware they are infected. With #4, since 1981, there have been more than 1.1 million cases, with over 540,000 deaths in the US alone. With #5, 25% of women and 20% of men have this today. With HPV, 10 different strains exist, with 75% of the reproductive population infected. With #7, there are 7.4 million new cases annually. With PID, 100,000 women/yr become infertile, and 150 of those will die.

All numbers are incorrect if one is taking antibiotics on a regular basis. But who exactly does that? One can say condoms can possibly reduce the risk of all these STDs if they’re used consistently and correctly. Very few do this as well. Slippage rates, breakage, and non-use plague condom users. It’s also known that any reduction of the above chances only applies to vaginal sex. There is little protection with condoms used for anal or oral sex.

But increased usages in a number of African countries have shown “a consistent association between greater availability and use of condoms and higher HIV infection rates,” per Dr Edward C. Green/ Demographic Health Surveys. People just take more risks because they feel safer with condoms.

Having only one sexual partner (preferably wife or husband) essentially eliminates the risk of STD infection, which is unbelievably high even with a few partners. It almost seems as if Someone has shown us the right course, but many have still wavered.

Just dieing from any injury is recorded as 1 in 1820 for your chances [Funny2]. With the numbers cited above, the chance you could get a fatal or non-fatal STD seem significantly higher. But for many, it’s better to be a daredevil with multiple sex partners.

Rise and Fall of America's Christian Heritage

 

 

America is a Christian nation, steeped in a Christian heritage, and maintains a mostly Christian backbone to date. It’s a blow when many of the populace defers from anything Christian, and especially when the President actually feels this is a Muslim nation as well. But Christians have always grown up with adversity, disbelief, agnosticism, and atheism. America keeps surviving. Jesus even said hell shall not prevail against its Christian roots.

 

America’s Christian heritage is complete, despite many people’s efforts to derange, manipulate, or simply omit it. Fifty-two of the 55 Founders of the Constitution, deeply religious men, were members of the established orthodox churches in the colonies. Of those Founders, 26 had seminary degrees. Back in the country’s early days, each state was free to establish churches, to allow church taxes, and to require attendance in church.

 

The first SC Justice, John Jay, said “Americans should select and prefer Christians as their rulers”. It’s even rumored Patrick Henry, one of the initial Founding Fathers said “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded...by Christians… on the gospels of Jesus Christ.”

 

Martin Luther King, Jr., quoting St. Augustine “…all law is derived from God, not the state”. There are countless engravings and pictures of Moses and the 10 Commandments posted throughout the Supreme Court Building. All 50 states refer to God in their Constitutions. Every American president has acknowledged God in their acceptance speeches. The oaths all three branches of the government (judicial, legislative, & executive) and witnesses’ oaths in court include the words “…so help me God”.  All US currency has “in God we trust” imprinted.

 

On dollar bills, the Latin inscription annuit coeptis means, “God has favored our undertaking”. On the tallest building (555 feet) in Washington D.C., the Washington Monument, the top has the Latin words Laus Deo, or “Praise be to God”. The designer (Pierre Charles l’Enfante) imposed a cross upon the landscape—the White House to the North, the Jefferson Memorial to the South, the Lincoln Memorial to the West, and the Capitol to the East.

 

When the cornerstone to the Washington Monument was laid on 7/4/1848, the Holy Bible was deposited within it by the Bible Society. Washington, himself, had a prayer for America that ended with “…grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”

 

Christian Heritage has been here since 1774. But in 1947 in Everson vs. Board of Education, Justice Hugo Black (member of the KKK and FDR appointee), reinterpreted the meaning of the 1st Amendment. He took Jefferson’s phrase “separation of church and state” from a letter Jefferson wrote to the Danbury Baptist Association in 1802. Even though that phrase is nowhere in the Constitution and Jefferson even wrote the Declaration, he was in France at the time and had nothing to do at all with the Constitution. Because of that gross interpretation of one phrase in one letter, Justice Black limited the religious liberty of all Americans.

 

It’s truly scary when the president’s view is different from our Founders [Moonbattery: Obama Portrays America as a Muslim Country]. Recently, in Obama’s preparation to leave Washington for his Middle Eastern speech, in an interview on Canal Plus Obama noted that the US could be considered as “one of the largest Muslim countries in the world”. 

 

On 12/2/08, the Capital Visitor Center (CVC) opened, Congressional Members of the prayer Caucus found a number of prominent references to God curiously omitted from our history. The original CVC display on the walls claimed E Pluribus Unum was our nation’s national motto. Actually our nation’s motto is “in God we trust”.

 

It was later found that during the “SOU” address by the President, the statement “in God we trust” etched into the wall of the House Floor just above the President’s head was omitted. Even CVC’s display of Abraham Lincoln’s White House desk where his Bible was always present in full view was absent.

 

There are more examples of omissions of God in Washington. None are more telling than the quote from General Dwight D. Eisenhower in his D-Day message carved into the walls of the WWII memorial. But Eisenhower’s last line “…the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking,” has been omitted as well.

 

It’s difficult not to go back to Jesus’ words: “…the gates of the netherworld [hell] shall not prevail against it [the church] {Matt 16:18/ NAB}.” Today, one can cite many examples of the devil trying to make inroads…

Jewish Vote Only a Microcosm of Reality

 

 

According to a The New York Jewish Week, article, 83% of the Jewish community in the US supported Obama in the last presidential election. Other polls put the number at 78%. Even a difference of 5% in other polls is well within the stated margin of error, especially with Obama receiving more than ¾ of the Jewish vote. That number is far from logical, knowing the very recent history of the Jewish nation-state: Israel.

 

Just last week, Obama told a worldwide audience of more than 100 million people, that the killing of Jews in the Holocaust (6 million) was the equivalent of Israel’s actions in handing the Palestinian incursions into Israel.

 

There has to be something to make the vast majority of a minority to vote for one presidential candidate over another. It’s interesting the Mormons, Protestants, and Catholics understand the threat of Obama with the extinction of Israel, but the majority of American Jews don’t?

 

Obama flaunts groups like Hamas and their accomplishments for the Palestinians, but they continually use terror tactics to accomplish their purposes. Obama says Israel has treated the Palestinians poorly, but there is no Muslim country that protects its minorities as well as Israel. Israeli Arabs have one of the highest standards of living of any Muslim country, and are the best educated Arabs in the world.

 

Obama’s speech seems to rewrite the history of Jews, Muslims, and Christians. He seems to forget Islams’s long and bloody history of violence against Jews and Christians, and how the Crusades attempted to turn back the Muslim onslaught that demanded conversions [Newsmax.com - Rabbi: Obama Breeds Climate of Hate Against Jews].

 

Does he realize how did the Middle East, most of Spain, and Western Europe become Muslim in the first place? He even failed to mention that Arab Muslims were the greatest slave traders in history, and there is no Jewish synagogue or Christian church operating within Saudi Arabia. Along with that, he failed to mention that any Jew or Christian risks beheading for practicing their religion within Saudi Arabia.

 

Malcolm Hoenlein: Jews 'Very Concerned' About Obama (leader of 50 major US Jewish groups), states “The reason why Palestinians don’t have a state is because their leaders rejected every offer for peace”. Hoenlien continues, “Whether is was in 1937, or 1947, or 1967, or later on, up until Ehud Olmert’s offer, and Ehud Barak’s offer, they rejected everything, even when they were getting virtually everything they asked for.”  Palestinians simply are not ready to accept the existence of the Jewish state.

 

Iran’s Ahmadinejad has stated his objectives are to erase the face of Israel from the map. Obama has traveled twice to the Mid East without ever visiting Israel, a staunch ally of the US.

 

Exit polls: How Obama won - David Paul Kuhn - Politico.com showed that Obama garnered 96% of Black voters, and 67% of Hispanics. But on the major issue by far, 63% of voters said it was the economy, and only10% said the war in Iraq. It seems obvious that minorities pushed Obama to the win.

 

But Jews in general are becoming increasingly concerned with Obama. Minorities are realizing they’re paying more federal taxes, getting fewer job opportunities, and partially own the largest debt in the history of mankind. Obama’s attempts to appease as many terrorists as possible seem likely to backfire sooner than expected.

 

Most expect the worst, but pray for the best.

North Korea--Missile Defense--the Perfect Opportunity

 

 

The Yomiuri Daily, Japan’s most popular paper, reported that North Korea [N. Korea Missile Hawaii] intends to launch a Taepodong-2 missile towards Hawaii sometime between 6/4 and 6/8. Even though the Taepodong-2’s range is supposedly 2000 miles, and Hawaii’s main islands are almost 4500 miles away, a launch would send a chilling message.

 

The opportunity to have the shot heard “round the world” presents itself. This shot is not the sound of the Taepodong-2 launching, but the collision, and destroying, of the North Korean missile by a US missile defense launch.

 

The Korean missile might never reach Hawaii, but everyone and their brother-in-law would know Missile Defense is now a viable, and proven, form of defense against a missile launch by a rogue state. There would be no deaths, no mass destruction, only proof that the world has progressed to the step of elimination of nuclear arms. And it was the US that led the way.

 

Already North Korea has defied numerous international warnings, and actually threatened war in protest of UN sanctions. Maybe Obama believes that missile defense can actually work. He’s already equipped Hawaii with missile for defense against a rogue attack. Even if a missile could not reach all the way to Hawaii, a simple shoot down would be highly instructive to many.

 

North Korea would realize that every long range (and short range) missile they have to either wreak havoc or simply threaten, would be antiquated. Every penny dumped into most WMDs would be worthless. Tons of mustard gas, phosgene, sarin, and blood agents they have would be useless.

 

Even leaders of China and Russia have serious concerns about Pyongyang’s unpredictable actions. South Korea’s President Lee Myung-bak recently stated about North Korea’s successful tests “…other non-nuclear countries in Northeast Asia would be tempted to possess nuclear weapons and this would not be helpful for stability in Northeast Asia.”  

 

Even a little speculation on a successful shoot down of a North Korean missile would result in: 1) the slowing or halting of production of carriers of WMD, 2) more money available for food and other creature needs, 3) a major incentive for other countries not to “weaponize”, 4) US or any other associated country cannot be coerced or strong-armed into any unfavorable position because of a threat, 5) reduction or elimination of nuclear threats by other rogue nations, 6) eliminate the ever-present nuclear option Iran will have, and 6) reduce one of the many terrorist WMD possibilities.

 

Even though the North Korean dictator Kim Jong is in poor health, his brother-in-law or middle son is believed to be possible options to take over for Kim Jong [North Korea preparing for new leadership? (OneNewsNow.com)]. According to Lt. Col. Bob McGinnis (Senior Military Strategist), anyone lined up to succeed Kim will unfortunately persist with the brutality of his administration.

 

The unwillingness to deal forcefully with the North Koreans goes back to 1968 [Oliver North : Appeasing Outlaws - Townhall.com]

 when the USS Pueblo was seized in international waters by North Korean patrol boats. Maybe we’d better to take the bull by the horns and show what the US can do when cornered. It’s time to act decisively.

 

Of course, Obama can sit and wait this crisis out. But it’ll bite much harder next time.

A Water Boarding Analogy Some Will Not Like

 

 

Imagine a small baby floating around in a sea of water. It’s quite comfortable, and even has a hose for prolonged submersion. The water temperature is around 97o Fahrenheit, so there’s no physical discomfort whatsoever. Its entire DNA has already been provided, so its height, weight, intellect, skin color and hair color are already known. Only problem unknown to the baby, is the carnivorous shark that lies in wait.

 

The shark may or may not come searching for its gruesome feast. But when it does, the baby is unaware of the shark’s intentions. Nothing is sacred. It’s all there for the shark’s devouring and consumption. The shark knows the baby is defenseless against his vicious lunges and rips at the unclothed body.

 

Under the most intense pain imaginable, the baby cannot scream, for it is underwater. No one will hear the screams anyway. As the shark rips off limb by limb, the baby pulls away from the sharp teeth, but cannot even manage an impassioned yell. The shark is fast as it is vicious, and soon the only thing left is the soft baby’s skull which is collapsed under only a small amount of pressure of the closing jaws.

 

Actually, the above scenario is something any baby feels during a typical D&E (Dilation & Extraction) abortion. The baby would not know the difference between a carnivorous shark and the cold instruments of an abortion. The D&E is typically done during the 2nd trimester, while the Suction Curettage is normally done during the 1st  trimester.

 

In the Suction Curettage, the baby is continually jabbed until small enough pieces can be sucked through the “cannula”. One is unsure of what the baby thinks of being sucked through the cannula, but one recent science fiction movie comes right to mind. We know the baby experiences excruciating pain after 20 weeks gestation from outward signs, but before that we don’t know how much pain can be felt, simply because we can’t see it.

 

But recently in the Netherlands, scientists from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Maastricht University Medical Centre and the University Medical Centre in St. Radboud have found short-term memory in babies before they were born. Their findings were on a study of 100 healthy pregnant women with the help of some gentle sound and vibration stimulation, combined with sonography (Washington Times).

 

But the similarities between an abortion and a water boarding episode could be eerily familiar. Both involve water, but the pre-born baby loves it and the water boarded person hates it. But the differences make themselves known easily.

 

During water boarding the victim is almost never physically harmed. There is no torture tactics used, no physical harm inflicted, and no damage to the brain imposed. The recipient comes out of the procedure highly embarrassed that he made particular statements. But he is quite alive, and unharmed.

 

In abortion, we know incredible pain is inflicted after 20 weeks, and are not sure how much the baby withstands before that time period. Immediate death is almost always the result, if the baby has not already died from having its head crushed. If it is still alive after an abortion, it is placed on a cold table to die, killed immediately after birth by some means, or it is partially aborted by severing its spinal cord at the neck before exiting the woman.

 

For any method used, one can rest assured that the baby does feel copious amounts of pain before death, assuredly after 20 weeks of gestation. One can easily determine which method actually involves torture, especially with the definition of torture defined up until 20 years ago, known from the dawn of mankind.

 

But many who complain of torture with water boarding seem to care less about what happens to a human just because they can’t see or hear it.

The Catholic Next To You Might Not be Real

 

 

A group of vocal bishops could not sway the Catholic vote enough, and Catholics voted Obama for president in a 54-46% differential. What is supposed to be a solid block of votes for one or all of the five listed “non-negotiables” (if you actually follow Catholic belief) disintegrated into a rough conglomeration of votes for the issue to which people felt most attracted.

 

All Catholics were told not all issues were the same. It’s easy to determine the highest priority issues. Without “life” there can be no environmental concerns, no healthcare concerns, no war worries, no racism…nothing. If there’s no “life”, why would one even care about the possibility of regulations, or even tax burdens?

 

Many other issues are hotly debated at election time: the poor, economy, environment, immigration, and retirement security to name a few. But Catholics may legitimately take different approaches to handling these issues. Even though the underlying principles of these issues can be non-negotiable, there are many options for handling each one of these issues, so specifically they are not non-negotiable [www.catholic.org].

 

That’s why life is first on the list of “non-negotiables” issued by the Catholic Church [Voter's Guide for Serious Catholics (English). There are actually five in that category—abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, cloning, and same sex marriage. All five are considered intrinsically evil—that is, evil every time. No exceptions, no caveats, no conditions. All involve “life”, the primary “non-negotiable”.

 

Based on Church teachings, encyclicals of the pope, Catholic Catechism, and issue papers from the Office of the Doctrine of the Faith, the listed “five “non-negotiables” are posted above. It should be observed Catholicism never endorses a particular candidate or party—just an ideal.

 

Pope Benedict XVI describes how Church teachings on abortion, euthanasia, and same-sex marriage must be followed. His words can be found in Vatican tells Catholic politicians to uphold church teaching.... Another recent document that discusses abortion and the pope’s feelings, are in the column Pope: Catholic Politicians Have "Non-Negotiable" Duty to Oppose... .

 

Gauging each major candidate on the five non-negotiables, McCain passed on four of the five, Palin passed on five of five, and Obama/Biden each failed on all five. Catholics who truly weighed the five non-negotiables would have immediately thought the past presidential election was a “no-brainer”. But what does 54% of Catholics voting for the pro-abortion candidate say about their true priorities?

 

Those Catholics not believing “life” has the utmost priority has committed a heresy. In other words, any Catholic voting for a candidate who permits, allows, or endorses abortion would be committing heresy, and would technically be a heretic.

 

But for 54% of a particular voting block, specifically Catholic, to vote for the pro-abortion candidate is a direct indicator of widespread lack of Catholic knowledge, the distinct treatment of issues as equivalent, direct heresy, or all three.

 

On a flight to Brazil (5/9/07), Pope Benedict XVI left little room for interpretation. During an unprecedented 25-minute in-flight press conference, Benedict explicitly stated pro-choice politicians should not only be denied communion, but face outright excommunication from the Church for supporting “the killing of a human child”.

 

A reporter broke the ice by asking him if he supported the excommunication of Mexican legislators who had voted to legalize abortion. The pope replied, “Yes, this excommunication was not something arbitrary, but is foreseen by Canon Law…”

The pope was emphatic, and continued to insist such actions involved excommunication.

 

The pope was talking directly about “latae sententiae”(automatic “excommunication”). This occurs without formal declaration if there is an obstinate persistence in manifest grave sin [Canon Law 915]. Abortion is one of the five intrinsically evil deeds classified as grave. With these sins, excommunication is inflicted by the perpetrator on herself/himself. Therefore, one’s vote for candidates that would enact these abortion laws also incurs excommunication.

 

Also, very recently Benedict released a new encyclical Caritas Veritate (Charity in Truth), which says all the social political issues are tied to the pro-life ethic: “that the pro-life perspective can’t be compromised in pursuit of common ground on other political issues.”  

 

It is sincerely hoped that all those Catholics [in name only] will come back to the Faith. If they do, then 33 million “supposed” Catholics who voted for Obama in the last presidential election were likely excommunicated. But Obama only won by a popular vote of just over 8 million votes. It’s amazing what true Catholics can do if they wanted.

Non-Christians in a Christian Nation

 

 

Lately, it seems many Americans despise any Christianity in America. But the proof is overwhelming about our Christian heritage. There seems to be no other country rooted in Christianity. But our president, at a recent press conference in Turkey, flatly stated Americans “do not consider ourselves a Christian nation…” The pertinent question is when did America stop being a Christian nation?

 

 

Recently on the floor of the House, Republican Randy Forbes (Va) on the Jennifer Kennedy video blog (Coral Ridge Ministries: Dr. D. James Kennedy) listed the American presidents who made it crystal clear and thought that Bible and Judeo-Christian principles were so important in this nation. He included George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, William McKinley, Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Herbert Hoover, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, John Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan. H e didn’t even include George Bush, who simply said his hero was Jesus Christ. Documentation from each one proves they knew America was Christian.

 

Fifty-two of the 55 Founders of the Constitution were members of established orthodox churches, and 26 had seminary degrees. Despite how anti-Christian our oldest college (Harvard University) in the US is now, it’s easily forgotten it was named after the Reverend John Harvard to train ministers of the gospel. Nine more of the oldest universities were started by Christians to spread the word of Christ [The Gates of Hell Shall Not Prevail: Kennedy and Newcombe, p.127].

 

John Adams, our 6th president, stated “The highest glory of the American Revolution was…the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity.” [Verna M. Hall/ The Christian History of the Constitution of the United States (p. 372)]. The US Supreme Court in 1892 declared “this is a Christian nation”.

 

Larry Witham (Washington Times) in 1931 stated the SC noted the US was a Christian nation. In 1947, writing to Pope Pius XII, President Truman said flatly, “This is a Christian nation.” [‘Christian Nation’ Now Fighting Words/ Larry Witham/ Washington Times/ 11/23/92].

 

The so-called Establishment Clause in the Constitution clearly prohibited the creation of a national church, but it did not prohibit a state church. At the time of the American Revolution, nine of thirteen colonies had state churches. By the Constitutional Convention (1787), there were only five states with a state church. The last state church (Massachusetts) ceased in 1833.

 

Obviously, the Constitution never prohibited a state church, even though it’s probably good we don’t have one today. But James Madison, original Constitution framer, served

  

on the committee that recommended the Congressional Chaplain System [Robert Cord/ Separation of Church and State: Historical Fact and Current Fiction, p. 23]. A wall in the Constitution between church and state would have made that unconstitutional.

 

Another illustration of the Founders attitude on church and state was that they repeatedly called for national days of fasting, prayer, and thanksgiving. There were no less than 16 days called during the Revolutionary War alone. It seems the national holiday of Thanksgiving was a direct result.

 

It’s obvious that the Founders, who wrote the Constitution, understood it far differently than the interpretation it has received over the last few years. Do we in the twentieth century know better what this law means than those who actually passed it?

 

A very important document in our history passed by that same first Congress was the Northwest Ordinance. One of the principle founding documents in our history, along with the Articles of Confederation, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution, it gave the laws for the establishment of the Northwest Territory [The Gates of Hell Shall Not Prevail: Kennedy and Newcombe , p.141].

 

Later on, Congress said something very significant. They specifically said that no state seeking admission to the United States should have anything in its constitution that would be opposed to the language of the Northwest Ordinance. They state, “Religion, morality, and knowledge being essential to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged.”[The Battle for Religious Liberty, David C. Cook, 1982, p.81].

 

It should be emphasized that schools were stated to be established to teach Religion, which is the first word in that quote.

 

So many believe in Justice Hugo Black’s incorrect interpretation of church-state separation from one letter Jefferson wrote to the Danbury Baptist Association 50 years ago. The average person today probably thinks that the Constitution teaches the separation of church and state. This misinterpretation of the 1st Amendment effectively turned the 1st against religion, instead of protecting religion as it was designed.

 

If Christianity is that distasteful to some, it might be easier if one lived with non-Christian nations such as the Russians, Albanians, Iranians, Saudi Arabians, or the Chinese. Of course many are still wondering about the answer to “When did America stop being a Christian nation?”

Heisman Winner Makes Reporters Speechless

 

 

The Heisman winner in 2007 did it again. Reporters couldn’t believe what they heard, and were speechless--How to leave reporters speechless. University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, who engineered his winning the Heisman, and two national championships, actually spoke the “V” word. To the accompanying reporters’ shock, he said he was a “virgin”, and would remain so until marriage.

 

Tim Tebow had originally been conceived by Pam Tebow who had actually gone into a coma from contracting amoebic dysentery during her pregnancy. Doctors told Pam she needed to abort because the strong medications she took may have caused irreversible damage to Tim. She refused to abort, and later at Florida Tim won the Heisman.

 

Any college football fan would know about Tim Tebow, the muscular Christian who plays quarterback for the Florida Gators. A more descriptive story by Austin Murphy in Sports Illustrated is in this feature about Tebow, which describes his history much better.

 

One has to wonder what would have happened if Tim was aborted 20 years ago as the doctors recommended. Certainly Florida would have not gained a Heisman winner, or likely two national championships. Besides all the football records lately built up by the Gators, the team led by Tebow, is breaking records with community service hours and work with the poor and the needy. So much so, that the head football coach decided it was time for him to sign up as well.

 

We know that all those people, if they had not been affected by Tebow in the Florida prisons, would be stealing, killing, and certainly having more abortions. They would be passing those traits on directly to their kids--at least the ones who hadn’t been aborted.

 

All this is likely true for his affect on the thousands of Philippinos he encountered. What about the hundreds of players his football coach will affect during his continued tenure as head coach? And certainly the thousands of kids Tim has affected from his announcement of virginity until marriage. It shouldn’t even be discussed the lives that will be saved by those kids deciding not to abort, and deciding to wait until marriage for sex. It’s obvious more abortions will be eliminated by that action alone.

 

Even the South Florida Sun Sentinel lately got into the fray by announcing this real-live football star was in their midst. Their words affected people. Those people affected other people. Even reading this column might affect you.

 

Evidently from the SI article, it seems as though with Tebow’s past missionary, prison, and future NFL work, the football phase of his life seems to be merely a means to a greater end. How many other unknown heroes have done the same thing? One thing is certain—you’ll never hear our president say the same thing about abortion or chastity in marriage. Maybe Tebow’s final senior year the Heisman will come knocking on his door one more time.

 

It seems as though we’ve just received a breath of fresh air…
